Sør-Helgeland
Description
Here, we enter North Norway. Main attraction in Sør-Helgeland is the Børgefjell national park. The importance of the park, which measures some 100 square kilometre, is the combination of landscape and richness of bird habitats. The park is a highland area. Most of it consists of alpine terrain, high peaks, cirques and gorges. The rock surface is poor and often bare.
If you are interested in exploring these mountains, then prepare for a solitary hiking tour. There are no huts, nor marked trails. You will have to find your way yourself and pitch your tent wherever you think is appropriate.
