1619 km, Halden (South) - Treriksrøysa (North)

This long distance walk follows the entire 1619 km long border between Norway and Sweden. The trail, compiled in 2005 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Norway, combines many existing paths in both countries. The border area consists of extensive woods in the south. Starting from Femundsmarka, the area gets mountainous. Further north the hike gets increasingly desolate.

The trail is not marked as such, but is described in a book published by DNT: "Grensesømmen - en rute fra Halden til Treriksrøysa". Most of the time the Grensesømmen uses cairned routes or other marked trails. Sometimes, there is no clear path, and hikers must find their way in the wild country themselves.
