From the Landmanalaugar area, you can hike east and you will find a few huts. The path is not well marked. It leads through a wide landscape, with clefts, rivers, lakes and hot springs.
Start in Hvanngil hut, then walk east towards , Strútslaug , Álftavatnskrók hut, Skælingar hut and Sveinstindur hut. You must be able to use map and compass and GPS. From the last hut, there is no easy road back.
