The Hunze is a small river in the north of The Netherlands. Like so many Dutch streams and rivers, the Hunze was canalized and became an instrument in agriculture. Today, opinions have changed drastically, and efforts are made to restore the river to its original meandering state. Does the result satisfy you? Take a look for yourself, on the Hunzepad. The trail leads along both sources of the stream and ends at the Zuidlaardermeer, the lake into which it flows. The path is only 80 km long. It connects to two longer trails, the Drenthepad and the popular Pieterpad.
