Tromsø is a town in the far north, bordering on Lapland. This area, Troms, is well developed for hiking. The area is vast, and many parts are just empty. Near Tromsø, to the east, a network of four huts and trails is laid out.
Far to the southeast, near the point where Norway meets both Sweden and Finland, another great hiking area is created. Here, the Nordkalottleden runs through Norway. With regular intervals, self-catering huts are available, accommodating 20 to 30 persons. You must take your own food. Further north the trail enters Finland.
