Lesotho
Description
The tiny highland kingdom of Lesotho is completely encircled by South Africa, at an altitude above 1400 m. Main mountain range is the Maluti Mountain Range. Highest mountain is Mt. Mafadi (3450 m). Snow is common in the highlands from May till September.
Hiking with or without a local guide is possible in the highlands, and topographical maps should be available in the capital Maseru, at the Office of Lands, Survey an Physical Planning. Although not organized or marked, there are numerous trails in many parts of Lesotho, including Sehlabathebe NP and Tsehlanyane NP.
