Hochschwab is a limestone and karst massif in eastern Austria, not far from Vienna. Although the mountains are not that high, the walker should count on some exhausting trips. The distances are long, and altitude differences big. The mountain Hochschwab for instance reaches its summit at only 2,277 meters, but the trip back and forth from Bodenbauer will cost you 8.5 hours.
